Joint Master's degree

This scheme aims at funding high-level international joint Master's degrees delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions (including, where relevant, non-education partners).

• Degrees of 60, 90, or 120 ECTS credits can be funded.
• Study must take place almost equally in at least 2 Programme Countries (studies can take place in Switzerland but this does not count in the minimum requirements).
• Approx. 13 to 20 students' scholarships and grants for invited scholars are included.

1 or 2 years Master's degree

• The Consortium is composed of an Applicant-Coordinator and Full Partners from at least 3 different Programme Countries.
• The Applicant-Coordinator is a higher education institution of a Programme Country having an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
• The Full Partners can be any public or private organisation, established in a Programme Country or in a Partner Country (Switzerland is a Partner Country) that contributes actively to the delivery of the joint Master's degree.

• The application must be submitted by the Coordinator-Applicant on behalf of the consortium.
• At application stage, a joint degree must be ready to be run and advertised.
• The signature of a "Joint Master's degree consortium agreement" (available on EACEA website) is required prior to the first selection of students.

4 or 5 years (extensible):

• 1 preparatory year
• 3 running years of a 1 or 2 academic year long programme.
• At the end of the 3rd year, a "Quality Review" may allow the joint Master's degree to keep going for 3 more years.

The initial funding for a period of 4-5 years covers the cost for:

• 1 preparatory year if any : EUR 20,000
• 3 running years:
  • Management and participation of at least 4 invited scholars: EUR 50,000 per year
  • 13 to 20 student scholarships of max EUR 25,000 per year.

Students and staff apply for grants directly to the Joint Master's degree consortium.

• Quality of the project design, impact and dissemination.
• Relevance to the Joint Master's degree goals.
• Quality of the Joint Master's degree team and cooperation arrangements.

• Application to launch a joint Master's degree must be submitted to the EACEA within the deadline mentioned above.
• Once the joint Master's degree is launched, students and guest scholars apply directy to the Master's degree's consortium.

There will be a call each year.
